Chris and Kayla's Pearl River Hilton Wedding | New York Wedding Photographer
What an incredible wedding. I had the honor of photographing Kayla and Chris on their wedding day back in May at the Pearl River Hilton. And let tell you, this Wedding was so much fun! I photographed their fall Engagement session last year and was instantly looking forward to their May Wedding this year. Kayla’s smile and her laughter are infectious and she was one of the most stunning bride’s I’d ever seen. Her lace, Pnina Tornai wedding gown from Kleinfeld’s was so stunning. And photographing her in her parents yard was so picturesque. It was the perfect backdrop for such a stunning bride.
After their ceremony at the Community Church in Harrington Park, we headed over to the Pearl River Hilton for their couple’s portraits. Couple’s portraits are one of my favorite portions of the day and the Pearl River Hilton was such a beautiful venue. While photographing Kayla and Chris, the love they had for one another was evident in the way they looked at each other. They were so much fun and extremely relaxed. We took the majority of their portraits in the back of the parking lot. I know that sounds crazy but the light was so beautiful and you would never know we were in a parking lot. When I told them where we were going they completely trusted my vision. And these ended up being some of my favorite Wedding Portraits I’ve ever taken.
Throughout the day I got to know more and more about Kayla and Chris and I was not only blown away by the love they had for one another, but I was also blown away by the love they had for their family and friends. You could truly see the love that they shared and how happy each guest was to celebrate with them.
Kayla and Chris have been together for over 7 years. Chris was a friend of Kayla’s older brother Chazz and that’s how they met. Chazz is in the Army and wasn’t able to make it to the Wedding. Now, I’m originally from Virginia and grew up in not only a military family but also in a military community so I’m very familiar with the military lifestyle. Oftentimes family members who are serving in the military miss out on big life events. This was the case with Chazz. He wasn’t able to make it to Kayla and Chris’s Wedding because he was away serving our country. But they had a solution. Kayla’s mom had a life-size cardboard cutout of Chazz for the wedding. It was seriously one of the best ideas. That cardboard cutout made his presence known and kept him in the forefront of everyone’s mind. One of my favorite moments was when Kayla danced with him during the reception. There wasn’t a dry eye in the building.
Some of the groomsmen and some of Kayla's friend's sang a Backstreet boys or NSync song, I honestly can't remember which one but I know it was a boyband. It was a tradition started by her brother and it was pretty amazing to witness! Not to mention everyone including myself was singing along.
Kayla and Chris, it was such an honor photographing your special day. You two are so sweet and some of the most wonderful people I have ever met and I wish you two nothing but happiness!
